Episode 23: Marriage and Homeschooling

Welcome back to another episode of The Relatable Homeschoolers. In today’s episode, we are talking all about marriage and homeschooling.

In this episode of The Relatable Homeschoolers, we’re diving into what our marriages have looked like through our years of homeschooling and how homeschooling has affected our marriages (mostly in a good way).

We discuss how unity between husband and wife is essential, and we break down how we have handled resentment toward our working spouses, who get to do all the “fun stuff.” We all have different homeschools and different dynamics in the home, so we each come at these from different perspectives.

We share how the dads in our homes play a role in our homeschools. In Annie’s homeschool, the dad is the principal, and if there are issues during the day, he deals with them when he gets home. However, he is also the kid’s mediator when the kids think mom is being unfair and giving them too much work. Also, we talk about how sometimes Dad can be the teacher for a particular subject, but not just book subjects.

Finally, we each share how we make our marriages a priority and foster good relationships between our kids and their dad. This changes through the years as our kids grow, and we do different things in different seasons.

If you’re curious about the intersection of marriage and homeschooling, give this episode a listen. And in Episode 22, we talked about Homeschooling Schedules and Rhythms, so be sure to check that out!
